I have achieved in one night what I could not achieve in the last 12 years! Goes to show what a little bit of willpower is capable of.

I'm referring to this rather cheesy web site you have stumbled upon. The idea of having my own web site first struck in 1998. Since then I have saved and stashed random emails and funny text messages all in the hope of one day sharing them with the world via my very own site. Over the years many "designs" have come and gone. Many bold new attempts at creating a site failed miserably.

Tonight, the 14th of August 2010, things finally changed. I have finally made peace with the fact that I will never have the "perfect" design for a site. I have given in to mediocrity ;-)

In my defence, we didn't have fancy tools like Joomla and Drupal in my days (yes I'm from the MS FrontPage era). No, back then we had to write HTML and style CSS using keyboards and parrot blood*.

But I digress...

My name is Raihaan Cassim, more commonly known by my nickname Reegz. I am a software developer plying the Dark Arts of Java. I'd like to believe that I'm good but that's wishful thinking. The day I get my name in the comments of a class that's part of the Apache Foundation's codebase is the day I'll don shades and start signing autographs. Until then I'll just believe in my perceived awesomeness.

This site strays tremendously from the initial ideas I had back in the 90's. I will attempt to focus on topics primarily related to Java - specifically the frameworks I use in my day-to-day coding. I hope to include some general web development topics and will work on mobile platform development as soon as I get more involved in that realm of software.
